This
particular page has received a lot of attention worldwide due to the
utter nonsense it contains. Some of the forums come for the following
sites, and I appreciate the comments:
AviationForum.Org,
Simviation.Com,
FlightInfo.Com,
JetCareers.Com,
SomethingSoWrong.Com, and
LongmontAirport.Com. The
reports below are from the City of Longmont and are public record. A
couple of people, literally 1 or 2, didn't like the names, addresses, and
phone numbers and I've removed quite a lot, but it's still available from
the city, so it's no big secret.
As a
sad follow-up to what you see below, especially the endless ridiculous calls
from Tom Zweck, Boulder County has shelled out to the Zweck family
$250K for the next 20 years for their land. They get to stay, and
even though it's supposedly set aside for Open Space, the public has no
access to it. And the insanity continues to this day with these
people, it's just not put up on the City's website anymore. I've
always said truth is always more entertaining than fiction, and
unfortunately the following is, sadly, real.
So
sit back, pull up a comfy chair as it'll take a while to peruse, and enjoy!
Controller:
"Flight 431, for noise abatement turn 45 degrees to the right..."
Pilot: "Roger,
but Center, we are at 35,000 feet, how much noise can we make up here?"
Controller:
"Sir, have you ever heard the noise an Airbus makes when it hits a Boeing 727?"
NEWS
FLASH: Airports and Airplanes make noise.
Whether you like
airports or not, if 85 to 90% of ALL complaints are from ONE person (Tom
Zweck), would you consider him a reasonable person with justifiable
complaints?
Should our tax dollars be spent having a City employee be tasked with
taking ALL calls and logging them from this one person? The airport
manager spends 20% (estimate) of his time attending to Zweck issues.
The airport manager has been mandated by the City Manager and Community
Development Director to do this.
What
hidden agenda does City management have requiring this? What power does
Zweck have over them??
Notable complaints see in red…. (#92, 138)
The 2003 Airport Complaint Log is now available. Seems that the most
complaints come from the Nelson Park area.
For a little while there, several people would call within minutes of each
other to complain about noise. Coincidence or some organized call-in
effort? If that's the way like to spend your early Sunday mornings,
have at it.
The "Barb" name you see is former Public Works Director
Barb Huner. "Phil" is Community Development Director Phil
DelVecchio. "Gordon" is City Manager Gordon Pedrow.
The "Airport Manager" mentioned is Airport Manager Tim Barth.

97. 6/11. Tina Toll called at 8:10 a.m. to complain about several low flying
airplanes over her ranch. She asked me to
get them out of there.
98. 6/11. Tom Zweck called at 1:10 p.m. to complain about planes flying over his
farm that were too noisy and how it was ruining his afternoon.
99. 6/11. Tom Zweck called three times at 4:45, 4:50 and 6:15 p.m. He said there
was one geek
in a red and white plane that kept flying over his
house and far. He said it wasn’t really
noisy, but the pilot kept flying over
and gawking
at them. He also complained about an airplane with
red wing tips who he believes is from Air West and used profanity to describe
the pilot. Lastly he complained about a white plane that flew over his farm
seven times which he described as a “voyeuristic
creep” who is ruining his night and
that he resents it very much.
100. 6/12. Tom Zweck called at 9:00 a.m. to complain about the beacon light and
how it ruins his farm at night. He wants me to get Gordon and Phil and the City
Council to come out to his farm late at night so we can all see how much it
damages his environment.
101. Tom Matters called at 9:30 to complain about an aerobatic plane doing
maneuvers out in west Boulder County. He said he wanted to make sure this call
got logged in the airport complaint file. He also said he was going to call the
FAA.
102. 6/15. Tom Zweck called at 1:00 p.m. to complain about the skydiving
airplane roaring over his farm and making too much noise when climbing. He said
the skydive plane should be trying to set an example of how to be a good
neighbor.
103. 6/15. Tom Zweck called at 5:40 p.m. He said the airport is
eerily quiet
again and that he hasn’t heard a plane
all afternoon and wanted to know what’s going on. He said he didn’t believe that
I could not explain why it was quiet. He thinks I am covering something up. He
said he has nothing to complain about.
104. 6/16. Tom Zweck called at 11:08 and 11:36 a.m. to complain about too many “bad
boys” flying their
dippy little Cessna’s
over his farm making more noise than anyone else is entitled too. He said we
should put of 3’ X 6’ noise abatement signs on the fuel trucks to educate the
pilots.
105. 6/16. Tom Zweck called at 3:50 and 4:35 p.m. To complain about pilots doing
stupid
things like flying over his farm too low and almost
taking his roof off
and too many planes doing touch and go’s. He also said the wind is blowing to
strong and that the skydivers shouldn’t be allowed to jump.
106. 6/17. Tom Zweck called at 8:37 p.m. to complain about the red and white
helicopter. He said it was on the other side of Airport Road and
not over his house but makes too much noise.
He said the helicopter should be mandated to fly over the Twin Peaks Golf Course
Clubhouse for the next year. He said actions like this only
piss off the neighbors. He also said it is a horrible impact on his farm and so is the
new beacon light.
107. 6/19. Tom Zweck called three times at 10:10 a.m., 10:15 and 10:43 a.m..
His first call was to complain about the new beacon tower. He said the light
destroys his life and quality of living on the farm. He said he thinks it’s a
new stronger light and doesn’t believe me that it’s the same one that has been
up there for the past 50 years. He wants documentation to prove it’s not a new
light. He said he likes to watch fire
fly’s on his farm at night and now with
the new beacon light he can’t do that anymore. His second call was to complain
about jerks
who flew over his farm 3 or 4 times this morning. He said I should be out there
talking to every pilot upon landing and give them a copy of the noise map and
then physically take each one up to the
rail road tracks. He said he’s sick of
being terrorized by the airport
on his farm. His third call was a plea to help him have a voice in making the
pilots fly on the tracks because he doesn’t want to be bothered anymore.
108. 6/19. Tom Zweck called three times at 11:05 a.m., 12:15 and 1:05 p.m. to
complain about ridiculous dweebs in
their dippy little Cessnas ruining his
morning. He said he feels physically ill
and that this morning was sickening. Used excessive profanity to explain his
dilemma in further detail. Wants to know why Phil, Gordon or I are not
more accessible to him.
He wants me to stop all the planes from flying over his house. He wants the AAB
to personally meet with every pilot.
109. 6/19. Tom Zweck called at 4:30 to complain about the skydiving plane
whining and droning
over his farm. He wants to know why the City can’t take care of it.
110. 6/20. Tom Zweck called me twice and Phil once at 8:14, 9:05 and 11 a.m.
First he wanted me to track down who was
terrorizing
his farm yesterday. He also wants to know what happened to the old tower and why
we can’t put the old tower up because the new tower is
ruining his life.
We should keep the old tower for historical preservation purposes and put the
beacon back on it. When he called Phil he said a bunch of
morons in Cessna’s
are driving him crazy and he can’t make a living being a farmer. He said it’s
been one geek after another
all morning long. He went to the airport to find Tim and ended up getting into
an argument with Larry from Air West. He said he has suffered too much in the
past 6 years and the morons
that use the airport don’t care. He wants everyone in the City to be
more accessible to him.
He said the airport is under constant
chaos and
anarchy
and the crap
has to stop. He is also sick of the new beacon tower and he is
physically ill
because of the airport.
111. 6/23. Tom Zweck called four times at2:30, 2:55, 3:05 and 3:10 p.m. First,
there is too much noise and too many planes flying over his house. He wants
Kevin to stop each plane as it lands and tell them to fly over the rail road
tracks. Next, he resents the airport because planes are not flying over the rail
road tracks, third, one plane has made four trips over his house already and
wants to know why the pilot is doing it. Lastly, the
dip right
now in the Cessna flying over his house and farm is ruining his life. Whoever is
flying right now is an uncaring and unthoughtful person. He then used profanity
to further explain his situation.
112. 6/23. Tom Zweck called twice at 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. to complain about a red
bi-plane that made two circles over his farm and a small experimental that flew
500 feet above his barn. He said this is
misbehaving.
He said nobody fly’s over the rail road tracks which is crap. He also wants to
know why the skydiving plane can ruin his nights after 10 p.m. His second call
was about an old yellow airplane that made two circles over his farm. He said it
was a direct act of rebellion
against the airport manager. He said the pilot was “dared”
to fly over the Zweck farm. He wants the City to be more accessible to him when
he calls and also wants the City to give him a set of
binoculars
so he can identify the airplanes.
113. 6/23. Rick Cavara who lives near Haystack Mountain called to
complain at 9:45 a.m. of an airplane doing aerobatics over his house for the
past hour. He said it’s been like clock work for the past month every Sunday
morning. He wanted to know what actions he could take to alleviate his problem.
114. 6/22. Tom Zweck called Phil twice at 10:00 p.m. to complain about night
time parachute jumps. He said all he could hear was the
whining and droning
of the airplane and the chutes popping. He also said that combined with the
“prison” light on the new beacon
that it this crap was too much of an intrusion.
115. 6/23. Tom Zweck called Phil in the afternoon to complain to him about the
same calls he made earlier today to me.
116. 6/25. Tom Zweck called at 10:00 a.m. to complain about “two
jerks” flying over his farm at least
four times in the past ½ hour. He said they were
not noisy,
just repetitive and he could see them. He said they were
voyeurs.
He still wants the City to give him
binoculars. 117. 6/26. Tom Zweck called to complain at 4:15 p.m. about a small plane doing
touch and go’s over his farm. He said the traffic is worse since the last Master
Plan meeting and he wants me to follow up accordingly. He then used profanity to
further explain the airplanes actions and pilots flying abilities.
118. 6/30. Tom Zweck called at 12:45 to complain that there were a bunch of
stupid, stupid pilots
flying right now. He also complained about two ultralights earlier this morning.
He said there was not much traffic over the farm this weekend, but when it was,
it was over his house. Back to his original complain he said right now there
were a bunch of dufusses exhibiting
stinking pathetic behavior.
119. 7/2. Tom Zweck called Phil twice at 2 and 3p.m. His first complaint was
about two “dippy” little Cessna's
flying in circles over his farm at 250 feet. He said it’s
idiotic behavior.
He wants the City to buy him binoculars.
His second complaint was that the same plane flew over his house four times at
250 feet. He said the pilot is stuck in
adolescence. He said the traffic is
getting worse and it’s a direct
rebellion against him. He said actions
like this don’t have to happen to him.
120. 6/30. Tom Zweck called Phil at 9:50 a.m. to complain about a helicopter
from the air show and two ultralights that flew over his farm at 100 feet. He
said they are terrible neighbors and it has ruined his Sunday. He thinks it’s a
deliberate rebellion
against him.
121. 7/8. Tom Zweck called to complain about a yellow Piper Cub doing touch and
goes. He said the pilot is a moron
and that I should stop him when he lands and
pound nails into the tires
of the airplane and then admonish the pilot.
122. 7/10. Tom Zweck called five times between 8:50 and 11:25 a.m. to complain
about “scummy”
ultralights being total pigs and creeps
for flying over the western portion of his farm. He also wanted me to get with
Phil so that we can close down the “play
ground” at the airport. His third
called resulted in the use of profanity to further describe the ultralights. His
fourth and fifth calls were about various different airplanes that he believes
come from different airports. He wants me to get with
every pilot
at every airport individually
and educate them all to fly over the rail road tracks. He also wants me to
provide air traffic control services by using a radio to call each airplane when
RY 11 is in use.
123. 7/6. Sandy Meyers called to complain about the continuous
operation of the skydiving plane over her house.
124. Scott Newhart called to complain about a number of low flying
airplanes over his house today.
125. 7/10 Tom Zweck called twice at 12:06 and 12:15 to complain about a “scummy”
pilot doing touch and go’s that flew over his house three times. He wants the
AAB to fill in at the office for me on the weekends and on my lunch hour so that
when he calls he can complain to someone directly.
126. 7/11 Tom Zweck called at 7:20 p.m. to complain about airplanes doing touch
and go’s over his farm. He wants me to be at the airport
anytime the wind blows from the east
so I can get on the radio and tell pilots not to fly over his farm.
127. 7/12. Tom Zweck called at 8:20 a.m. to complain about airplanes flying over
his farm. He said all the pilots were geeks and then he used profanity to
further describe the situation.
128. 7/13. Tom Zweck called five times today at 11:57, 12:16, 1:50, 5:30 and
5:36. His first call was to complain about the jump helicopter stating the pilot
was a pig.
He also wants me, Gordon, Phil, Kevin and the AAB “geeks”
to perform air traffic control when the wind blows out of the east and RY 11 is
in use. His second call was about the skydive plane
whining and droning
over his farm. He said they don’t have to make that much of an impact to the
valley and that I could do a better job of managing them. His third call said
all the traffic over his farm is sickening and that it is “one
geek after another.” He reiterated that
he wants the City to do air traffic control so no planes fly over his far. His
fourth call was that an experimental plane flew over the western portion of his
farm. He said the plane didn’t make any
noise but that it was “erie”
because it glided over so quiet.
His last call was to complain again about all the traffic that flew over his
farm today.
129. 7/15. Tom Zweck called three times at 12:55, 1:00 and 1:10. His first call
was to complain about an airplane doing touch and go’s last night and about a
red and white bi-plane that “dipped’ his wings over his farm. He said it was the
same plane over and over again. He said he wants to meet with Phil. His second
call was about a “moron”
who buzzed his house. His last call he stated the airport is way out of control
and that he is tired of all the crap from the airport.
130. 7/16. Tom Zweck called at 9:00 to complain that he couldn’t get a hold of
me. He also wanted to know who was pushing for all the growth at the airport and
why we have put him through two months of hell with the beacon light. He said
the airport has ruined his summer.
131. 7/17. Tom Zweck called five times at 11:24, 12:16, 12:19 and 12:43. His
first and second call was about a cream colored plane with red wing tips that
did four touch and go’s over his farm and not flying over the railroad tracks.
His third and fourth call were about an experimental Long EZ that flew over his
farm and a couple of other planes too. He said he called Larry at Air West. His
last call was to complain about the skydiving airplane making too much noise and
said it was unacceptable.
132. 7/17. Tom Zweck called twice at 5:00 and 5:07 to complain about the skydive
aircraft not flying over the railroad tracks. He said I need to get Gordon, Phil
and myself out to his farm to record it and play it at a City Council meeting
133. 7/18. Tom Zweck called at 8:00 to complain about the skydive airplane from
yesterday. He said it was crap and all it does is pollute the valley and
destroy
and pollute his farm.
He want me to get Gordon and Phil to come sit in his corn field today to listen
to planes and how it destroys his
environment.
134. 7/19. Tom Zweck called at 3:20 to complain that the skydiving plane was
whining and droning
over his farm. He said the plane did fly high and over the railroad tracks but
it’s still to noisy and says it’s all he can hear. He wants me to get with the
FAA ATC to have their climbs and descents changed to a different route when RY
11 is in use.
135. 7/20. Tom Zweck called three times at 11:31, 5:49 and 6:10 to complain that
Kevin didn’t show up at his farm to make observations and that the jumpers were
jumping north of the airport and drifting back and that I defend the skydivers
too much. He also complained that the chance of an offsite landing could
increase due to the winds and that he wanted Kevin to call me, Gordon and Phil
so we could come out on Sunday to observe from his farm.
136. 7/21. Tom Zweck called six times at 10:47, 10:54, 11:15, 12:20, 1:05 and
4:06 to complain about the skydiving airplane, jumpers jumping out over his
farm, jumpers jumping from the helicopter. He also wanted Kevin to do something
about the plane that flew over his house twice. He also complained about a blue
and white airplane that he said circled his house 10 times at 250 feet. He said
the traffic today is really atrocious
and that the airport is out of control..
He said 90% of the planes flew over his house today. He wants to know why I
don’t inform every member
of City Council about every one
of his complaints.

called three times to complain about noisy, low flying aircraft. He asked that I
call him back

four touch and go’s over his house. He said it was a
scummy pilot
and that he resents what’s going on. He also said I’ve been responsible for all
the growth at the airport but have done nothing to stop the negative impacts. He
wants me to get a radio and call every plane that fly’s over his house. He said
the pilot that was doing touch and go’s right now
should be shot.
139. 7/26. Tom Zweck called three
times at 11:39, 12:15 and 2:18. His first call was to complain about an aircraft
that did 3 touch and go’s over his house. He said it was
criminal harassment.
His second call was about the same incident and he wanted me to find out who was
flying the plane. His third call was about a plane with red wing tips that was
flying too noisily over his house. He said he was being
criminally harassed
and that he was going to call Phil.
140. 7/28. Tom Zweck called at 3:15 to say that his day was ruined. He said
there is a total lack of enforcement at the airport because this morning he got
buzzed by two ultralights playing “tag”. He said I should play all the messages
he leaves for this “miscreants”
at the airport because they are all hung
up on adolescence and that all the
pilots act like 10 year olds. He said it is overt
criminal harassment
and that he wants Phil to lecture all
the pilots.
141. 7/28. Sheldon Webster called to complain about the number of low flying airplanes today. He said
